Port Blair, January 6: Brig SB Sajjan, Deputy Director General of Recruiting responsible for Army Recruitment in the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, UT of A&N Island and Pondicherry, today called on the Lt Governor Lt Gen (Retd) AK Singh at Raj Niwas. During the discussion, the Lt Governor directed that a recruitment rally be held in the Islands between 28th and 31st January 2014 and another recruitment rally sometime in mid next year.
The Lt Governor also mentioned that as the number of vacancies based on the male recruit able population of the Islands is very less, the same be increased. Based on the suggestions of the Lt Governor, the DDG mentioned that the number of vacancies for the forthcoming rally would be almost 50% more than the last rally and if the response from the candidates is good then effort would be made to get more vacancies released from the Army HQ. The DDG also assured the Lt Governor that the recruitment rally would be held in a most transparent and fair manner and in full public view. Any member of the public would be welcome to witness the rally proceedings. Further, the candidates are advised not to fall prey to any tout and pay any money or bribe as selection for the Army is absolutely fair and transparent.
