Port Blair, Dec 15: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma recently met Shri Rahul Gandhi, Vice-President, AICC and Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde, Honble Home Minister of India at New Delhi and appraised them about the various burning issues of these Islands. Mainly the induction of Mainlanders in Govt. jobs of A & N Administration. Mr. Sharma stated that thousands of unemployed youths who are highly educated are in need of jobs. Whenever vacancies are available under the AN Administration, major portions of jobs are taken away by the mainlanders, because they acquire good knowledge and experience at mainland from various private or autonomous bodies, which these Islanders don’t have.
Kuldeep mentioned that due to this, qualified youths are becoming frustrated and coming on road demanding ban on the recruitments of mainland candidates in the jobs of AN Administration. Advocating for the interest of local unemployed youths, Kuldeep has thus requested that only youths of these islands should be considered for A & N Admn jobs.
On the issue of the pathetic conditions of the employees of the ANI Forest and Plantation Development Corporation, Kuldeep has requested them for uninterrupted disbursement of salary to the employees and workers of the Corporation and immediate handing over of the management of ANIFPDCL to the A & N Administration.
On the issue of inner line permit, Kuldeep has stated that due to over influx of population in these Islands, the ecology, environment etc are in danger. Bearing capacity, land and water is also limited and hence it is high time that inner line permit should be introduced as in the pattern of Lakshadweep islands, Kuldeep has advocated.
On the issue of Temporary Status Mazdoors, this was submitted that a large number of TSM, casual and daily rated mazdoors who were working in various deptts of AN Administration viz Electricity, Civil Supplies, Forest, IP&T, Andaman Labour Force et on their subsequent absorption in the Govt. service against the regular vacancies on and after 01.01.2004 have been badly affected by the introduction of New Pension Scheme.
These workers despite working for over decade, when provided regular appointment on or after 01 01 2004, lost the entire benefits of past service and are brought under New Pension Scheme with the payment of CPF.
Kuldeep has requested the AICC Vice President and Union Home Minister to consider issue of appropriate instruction to the subordinate offices to confer the benefit of CCS pension rules, 1972 and also permit the contribution towards the GPF to all such casual labours, daily rated labours and TSMs who were working prior to 01.01.2004 and subsequently provided with the regular appointment by virtue of their past service in the department. Both, AICC Vice-Present and the Union Home Minister have given a patient hearing and have assured to look into the matter.
