Port Blair, Dec. 15: The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray held a press conference at MP Bhawan here yesterday during, which the MP said that the matter regarding the pay revision of 224 bus conductors & 51 checking inspectors of Transport Department and creation of 628 posts in Transport Department has been taken up by him with the Union Transport Minister, Shri Oscar Fernandez in New Delhi. The MP quoting officials of the Transport Ministry said that both matters are now with the Finance Ministry.
The MP informed the scribes that part time teachers, malis, aayas and sweepers under the Education Deptt will be reinstated soon. The MP quoting officials of the A & N Administration said that order to re-instate these staff will be issued soon.
Regarding the matter of provision of pension benefits for 495 regular mazdoors of Electricity Department, the Member of Parliament said that he is pursuing the matter with Ministry of Power.
While informing the plight of the Mazdoors of Forest Corporation who have not been given wage for last four months, the MP said that he will sit on ‘fast unto death’ near Parliament Gate on December 17 and also in front of Ministry of Environment and Forests in order to provide justice to theses mazdoors. However, he thanked the Lt. Governor for sanctioning one month’s salary for the mazdoors from the Administration’s fund.
