Billyground, Dec 09: A 65-years-old man has been arrested by A & N police from Basantipur Village of Middle Andaman yesterday for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old minor girl of the same village. According to villagers the girl Radha (name changed) had gone for purchasing milk from the house of the old man, Anukul Mazumder yesterday morning. Taking advantage of situation that no one was present inside his house, Anukul Mazumder called the little girl inside his house and molested her.
Terribly shocked girl somehow managed to came out of the house and complain the matter to her father, following which a group of angry villagers reached Anukul Mazumder house and physically assaulted him. Soon police was called and within no time Anukul Mazumder was arrested U/S 354/ 354 (a) (1) (i) IPC RWS 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
The Billyground police presented the accused before the court today at Mayabunder from where he was sent to Judicial Custody.
