Port Blair, Dec. 4: The Ld. Sessions Judge Mr. Debashish Mukopadyay has convicted accused Sudhir Mondal and accused Mamoni Mondal, wife of accused Sudhir Mondal was on Nov. 29, 2013. The accused persons have committed murder of the deceased Smt. Basanti Baidya, r/o Rama Krishna Gram Village, Diglipur.
The Ld. Court of Sessions Judge has imposed punishment upon the accused Sudhir Mondal to suffer life imprisonment for commission of offence U/s 302 IPC and to pay fine of Rs.5000/- in default of payment of fine, the accused Sudhir Mondal has to undergo further imprisonment for one year. The accused Sudhir Mondal was also imposed punishment U/s 201 to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.1000/- in default of suffer rigorous imprisonment for 3 months.
He was further imposed sentence for commission of offence U/s 380 of IPC to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 4 years to pay fine of Rs.1000/- in default of payment of fine, he has to undergo rigorous imprisonment for further period of 3 months.
The accused Mamoni Mondal, wife of accused Sudhir Mondal was found guilty for commission of offence U/s 380/201 IPC. The Ld. Court of Sessions Judge imposed sentence upon her for commission of offence U/s 380 to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 4 years and to pay fine of Rs.1000/-. In default of payment of fine, she has to undergo simple imprisonment for further period for 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.1000/-. In default of payment of fine she has to suffer simple imprisonment for further 3 months for commission of offence U/s 201 of IPC.
Both the accused persons have been sent to custody on Nov. 29 for reflection of their mind about imposition of sentence and they were produced before the Court on Dec. 2, 2013 about hearing of sentence to be imposed upon them. The Ld. Court of Sessions Judge heard both the accused persons and their counsels and also heard me about imposition of sentence and thereafter the Ld. Court of Sessions Judge imposed the above punishment upon the accused persons, a communication received here said.
