Port Blair, November 27: The scheduled flight services operated by various airlines between Kolkata-Port Blair and Chennai-Port Blair sectors, which were suspended due to the prevailing cyclonic weather conditions at Port Blair on 25th November, 2013 have been restored to normalcy w.e.f. 26th November, 2013. Further, on the request of A&N Administration, Air India had operated additional flights, one each from Chennai and Kolkata to clear the backlog of standard passengers at Chennai, Kolkata and Port Blair. Besides, the Go Air has also operated one additional flight between Chennai-Port Blair sector to clear the backlog. For those passengers who were stranded at Havelock and other Islands due to the Cyclonic weather and missed their flights to Kolkata and Chennai and beyond were re-scheduled to avail next days’ flight without any additional payment. Nearly 1000 such case were considered for re-scheduling of tickets free of cost by Jet Airways, Spice Jet, Go Air and Air India.
Similarly, the Pawan Hans Helicopter Operations in the Inter-Island sector has also been restored to normalcy w.e.f. 26.11.2013. The seaplane services could not be restored on 26.11.2013 due to rough sea state. However, the same has been restored on 27.11.2013.
