Port Blair, Nov 27: It is brought to the notice of general public and consumers of Electricity Department that repair of damaged Transmission and Distribution system in South Andaman District and North & Middle Andaman District due to devastating cyclone “LEHAR” on 25th November, 2013 is in progress.
The departmental officers & staffs are working round the clock on war footing to clear the fallen trees and repair the damages.
Power Supply restored in majority locations of Port Blair Municipal area by the evening on 25.11.2013 itself and remaining area restored on 26.11.2013.
Repair of main transmission feeder from 20 MW IPP Power House, Bambooflat to Garacharma has already started and expected to complete within 2 – 3 days.
Power Supply restored up to Nayasahar in South Andaman and is expected to restore up to Mangultan by the evening of 26.11.2013.
Power Supply restored up to Sippighat in South Andaman and is expected to restore up to Chouldari & Ograbranj by the evening of 26.11.2013.
Power Supply restored in Bambooflat & Wimberly Gunj areas by 16.00Hrs on 26.11.2013.
Restoration of Power Supply in Ferrargunj and beyond areas are expected by 27.11.2013.
Normal Power Supply restored in Neil Island by 13.00 Hrs on 26.11.2013.
Power Supply in majority areas of North & Middle Andaman District restored and remaining areas expected by 27.11.2013.
The general public is also requested not to touch damaged poles and conductors found lying if any. Report on such incident be made to the nearest site office or Police Station immediately.
