Port Blair, Nov 01: The Department of Agriculture in association with agriculture Technology Management Agency has initiated Rabi campaign at 15 nos. of Gram Pamchayat at Diglipur in order to encourage and generate awareness among the farmers to attain maximum productivity and higher yield from Rabi crops viz., pulses, oilseeds, vegetables etc. during Rabi season.
The highlight of this campaign is to create awareness on organic farming and various other aspects such as seed treatment using Bio-pestcide such as i.e. Trichoderma viridae, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Rhizobium etc, adoption of Integrated Pest Management approach, Integrated Nutrient Management , balanced use of fertilizers and nutrients.
The programme was first initiated at Subhash Gram Panchayat on 31st October 2013 and was graced by Shri. P.R.Singaram, Pradhan, Subhashgram Gram Panchayat. In his inaugural address he appealed the farmers to attain maximum benefits from the schemes and also to have awareness of all latest technology being implemented by the Department.
Rabi campaign was also held at Madhupur Gram Panchayat Wherein Smt. R.Bhu Bharthy, Agri Asst., explained in detail about crop Insurance and suggested various intercrops that can be cultivated along with various Rabi crops. Later on, Smt. Lipika Rajbanshi, BTM (ATMA) explained about the importance of Kisan card and the role of farmer friend.
Altogether 20 farmers graced the occasion and the progamme ended with vote of thanks by Shri. K.Lokanadhan, SMS, Agriculture Technology Management Agency.
