Port Blair, Nov 01: Eleven persons were arrested by staff of CCS & CID for gambling at New Pahargaon and Nayagon on Thursday night with total Rs. 58,820/- including Rs. 50,340/- of stake money.
Acting upon a tip of information, Police trams of PS Central Crime Station and CID comprising of Inspector R.K.Sharma, SHO CCS, SI N. Zainuddin, HCs Jadish Prasad, S. Thimmi Raj, D Mani Kumar, Ibrahim Ali, PCs Laxman Rao, Nadeer, Ashiq Iqbal, Sudhir Toppo, Kartik Uraon, Sumit Kumaar Nag under the supervision of Mr. Gurmeet Singh, DySP (CID) conducted raids at New Pahargaon and Nayagaon and apprehended 11 persons namely (1) Babu Lall Marandi, (2) Sahid Ali, (3) Tapan Kumar, (4) Jagdeshwar Minj, (5) Rajender Lall, (6) Habeeb, (7) Harish Ratan, (8) Arul Das, (9) A.N.Kumar, (10) Babloo and (11) Shyam Lall from the gambling den. All the eleven persons weer arrested on the spot under Andaman and Nicobar Gambling Regulation act 1956.
Police have launched a strong drive against such gambling in Port Blair and all across the Islands. Public is requested to pass on credible information about such gambling on the following telephone numbers 233307, 232586, 100 and 9434289985. The informant will be rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret.
