Port Blair, Sept 30: The Hindi Pakhwara observance by Coast Guard came to an end with a valedictory function held at Coast Guard Conference Room on 30 Sep 13. Hindi Pakhwara was observed from 16 to 30 Sep 2013, during which various competitions viz, General Knowledge, Noting/Drafting, Essay writing, Translation and Dictation in Hindi were conducted to encourage more number of staff to adopt Hindi language in Official work. A large number of personnel participated enthusiastically in promoting Hindi as Official Language.
As a result of awareness created among the CG personnel, Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Port Blair has awarded third prize to Coast Guard Region (A&N) for implementation of Official Language Policy for the year 2012-13 among the Central Govt. organization functioning at Port Blair. Speaking on the occasion, the Commander appreciated the role played by CG units in promoting the Hindi language in official work. He also urged all personnel of the Coast Guard to do maximum work in Hindi and earnestly try to achieve the target set for implementation of Official Language.
The valedictory function was conducted on 30 Sep 2013. During the function Inspector General VSR Murthy, President Tatrakshak Medal, Tatrakshak Medal, Commander, Coast Guard Region (A&N) distributed Cash prizes and Certificates to the winners of various competitions held during the Fortnight. A Rolling Trophy instituted for the first time has been awarded to Coast Guard Refit and Production Team (CGRPT) for undertaking maximum work in Hindi. On this occasion, the Commander, Coast Guard Region (A&N) congratulated all the participants and winners and advised all Commanding Officer of Ships and Establishment to set target for the use of Hindi and its achievement.
