Diglipur, Sept 12: Although the State Transport Department is trying hard to connect remote villages of Andaman and Nicobar Islands by introducing buses in new routes but due to bad road, the STS has to withdraw buses from many remote locations.
Latest such withdrawal has been noticed at Diglipur Island, where troubled by bad roads, the STS has withdrawn bus service to Khudirampur Village via R K Gram.
The service was introduced just three months back following continuous demands from the residents of the area but now the STS drivers have expressed inability to drive STS buses on the bad road of Khudirampur, risking lives of passengers.
This decision to withdraw the bus, which has become the lifeline for the remote village in just three months have hit the villagers hard, specially school going children.
The president, Youth Congress J Boby along with other villagers today met with the Asst. Commissioner Dr. Vivek Kumar and expressed the situation and need of the villagers who have to pay heavy to the autowallas due to the sudden closer of the bus service. The Asst Commissioner gave a patient hearing and has assured to look into the matter.
