Port Blair, Aug 29: Andaman & Nicobar Islands have in the recent years witnessed a lot of changes and new schemes introduced by the Port Blair Municipal Council. Starting from Clean City Green City campaigns to inauguration of state of the art Bus Stands for the public, the Council has shown that it cares for the General Public and is consciously constantly trying to improve the quality of life.
A very thoughtful gesture of the Port Blair Municipal Council lately has been the responsibility it has taken to provide entertainment to the Islanders absolutely free of cost. Last week the Council announced screenings of popular films for the entertainment of the General Public and announced a schedule of four weekends, one movie every Saturday and two movies every Sunday. The schedule started on the 24th of August and is supposed to screen films till the 15th of September 2013.
Taking into account the comments and suggestions of the General Public, the Council has not only introduced a very good quality projection for the screenings but also has provided 5.1 surround Audio, which has enhanced the movie experience to magnanimous proportions. The Auditorium was packed to capacity on both Saturday the 24th and Sunday 25th of August. Whats more, many late comers had to return back without a chance to watch the movie on Sunday as Auditorium was houseful. “The sound effects are wonderful and booming this time” – commented a movie goer.
Another young girl said – “We are very happy to see Shahrukh Khan on such a big screen and the songs sound so nice”, we are fed up of listening to songs in buses on our way to college”. A small child of about 9 years said “Maza aa gaya”, much to the delight of his parents, who wore a broad smile after the evening show of Singham.
Over all, the General Public seems very enthusiastic about the forthcoming films and already requests are pouring in to screen films of their choice. It’s a welcome effort and we laude the efforts of the PBMC in providing good entertainment to the much fun starved Islanders.
