Port Blair, July 24: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma met the Lt Governor on 23rd July, 2013 and highlighted the plight of the waiting CTET passed teachers.
Sharma informed Lt Governor that 450 posts of various categories of teachers are lying vacant under the Education department and requested that the waiting 60 numbers of CTET passed teachers may be considered against the 450 vacant posts and rest 390 vacancies may be filled in with the waiting teachers on contract basis as still there are so many unemployed but trained teachers waiting for the job of teachers.
Sharma then briefed that the eight groups of Part time teachers, ayas, sweepers etc numbering 465 members who have rendered their sincere long services to the Education Department for upbringing the tiny tots have been removed of their services on 5th April, 2013 when most of these teachers, after getting jobs in the Education department have married and having children to look after apart from other members in the family.
After being retrenched of their long sincere services in the department, on 12th April, 2012, they were running from one door to other to get their grievances heard.
The matter was brought to the information of then Lt Governor by Sharma in July, 2012 who had considered their case and they were again reappointed on 1st October, 2012 but to their ill fate, they are again put under retrenchment on 5th April, 2013.
Sharma then submitted that as per his information total 628 vacancies are available in Pre primary sections in Education department and has earnestly requested the Administrator to kindly appreciate their problems by considering their long services, giving one time relaxation in their age, qualification etc, as, at the time of their initial appointment they all had requisite qualification, age etc of the time, all these waiting staff may be re-appointed against the 628 vacancies and for rest vacancies may be filled with fresh candidates in as per rules of the department. Sharma also brought to the consideration of the Lt Governor that at present there are total 61 part time Craft instructors working in Education department. Most of them are working since 1998 (15 years of continuous service) on part time basis who were appointed after thorough selection test and interviews. In this connection Sharma brought before Lt Governor’s consideration that prior to the appointment of the above 61 part time craft instructors, 32 other Craft instructors got regular appointment as per the order of the Honble CAT Court.
Sharma then submitted before the Lt Governor that as per information total 167 sanctioned posts of Craft instructors are available in the Education department and hence requested to consider regular appointment to these 61 craft instructors who are working in the department since last 15 years, and eligible to hold the post as per the Recruitment rules of the department considering their pathetic condition by allowing one time relaxation of age etc who are all married and responsible to maintain their families. Sharma requested the Lt Governor to consider all the above posts to be filled in so that, many waiting eligible candidates may get jobs in these hard days. The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing and assured to look into the matter at the earliest.
