Sri Vijaya Puram, October 29: As per the directions of the Lieutenant Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a meeting with firecracker wholesalers and stakeholders was held at 5:00 PM in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman), under the chairmanship of the Additional District Magistrate, to ensure fair pricing and the safe sale of firecrackers.
During the meeting, wholesalers highlighted the logistical challenges and higher transportation costs involved in supplying firecrackers to the Islands.
The Additional District Magistrate directed all wholesalers to strictly adhere to the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) and comply with all applicable provisions of the Explosives Rules and prescribed safety regulations. Any person found violating the Explosives Rules or selling firecrackers above MRP shall be liable for appropriate legal action in accordance with the applicable laws and rules.
The District Administration reiterates its commitment to protecting consumer interests, ensuring fair prices and maintaining public safety. Citizens are encouraged to check the MRP and report any violations to the competent authorities.
