Sri Vijaya Puram, October 27: The ‘Janta Darbar’ or public hearing at Raj Nivas (now Lok Niwas) had been a regular feature hosted by past Lt. Governors of the A & N Islands. These citizen-centric sessions were greatly beneficial for poor people, as their genuine matters or grievances got proper attention and immediate solutions from the concerned officials or departments. In the true sense, ‘Governance for the people’ was evidently visible. But Admiral D K Joshi, the last Lt. Governor, for unknown reasons, discontinued the Public Hearing programme, and people were unhappy, a press release from the BJP, A & N Islands, said.
As soon as Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Lt. Governor, took charge, the State President, Mr. Anil Kumar Tiwari, persuaded him to restart the discontinued Public Hearing programme.
Mr. Anil Kumar Tiwari has expressed his gratitude to the Lt. Governor for considering starting the public hearing again. He further opined that the Janta Darshan programme will greatly benefit the islanders in getting their genuine grievances solved, said S.P. Ellango, State Media Convenor, BJP, A & N Islands.
