Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 08: The Middle Andaman Forest Division, Rangat, organized the Valedictory Function of 72nd Wildlife Week 2026, marking the successful conclusion of the week-long celebration dedicated to wildlife conservation, environmental awareness and community participation. The programme was graced by Mr. Vikas Yadav, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman, who welcomed the gathering and highlighted the various activities successfully conducted by the Division as part of Wildlife Week 2026. The celebrations included awareness programmes, competitions, the Wildlife Week inaugural rally and various other activities aimed at creating awareness among students and the general public about the importance of protecting wildlife and conserving the natural environment. The programme also featured vibrant cultural performances by the students of PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Rangat and St. Xavier’s School, Rangat. A video presentation showcasing the various programmes and activities conducted during Wildlife Week 2026 in the Middle Andaman Forest Division was also presented on the occasion.
In his address, the Divisional Forest Officer expressed gratitude to all Government Departments, educational institutions, PRI members, volunteers, and the general public for their wholehearted support in making 72nd Wildlife Week 2026 a grand success. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts and community participation in protecting wildlife and preserving the rich biodiversity of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of various competitions organized as part of Wildlife Week 2026. A memento was also presented to the individual who voluntarily surrendered his air gun, in recognition of his responsible action and contribution towards wildlife protection.
