
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 07: The Valedictory Ceremony of Hindi Fortnight 2026 was organised at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, 07 October 2026, in the Conference Hall of Akashvani, Sri Vijaya Puram, with the participation of officers and staff of Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra.
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Satnam Singh, IAS, Secretary (Personnel, Revenue, Administrative Reforms & Training), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, as the Chief Guest; Mr. Rajeshwar Lal, Assistant Secretary (General Administration), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, as the Guest of Honour; and Ms. Mumtaz Bano, Retired Programme Executive, Akashvani, Sri Vijaya Puram, as the Special Guest.
The ceremony was presided over by Mr. C. Subba Rao, Deputy Director General (Engineer), Cluster Head and Head of Office, along with Mr. Deepak Chandra Tewari, Assistant Director (Official Language)/Drawing and Disbursing Officer.
Among the other dignitaries and senior officials present on the occasion were Mr. D. Narasimha, Deputy Director (Engineer); Smt. Meena Prakash, Assistant Director (Programme)/Head of Programme; Ms. Sanam, Assistant Director (Programme)/Head of Programme; and Mr. S. R. Bhaskar, Assistant Director (E).
The proceedings of the ceremony were anchored by Smt. Pooja Singh.
The ceremony commenced with the introduction of the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Special Guest, followed by the presentation of the Hindi Fortnight Progress Report by Mr. Deepak Chandra Tewari, Assistant Director (Official Language)/Drawing and Disbursing Officer. The report highlighted the activities and competitions organised during Hindi Fortnight 2026 and the participation of the officers and staff.
Thereafter, Ms Jaisheela J Lakra, Programme Executive, presented a self-composed Hindi poem titled “Ab Nahi Toh Kab”, which added a literary and inspirational dimension to the programme.
This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony, during which the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Special Guest felicitated the winners of various competitions organised as part of Hindi Fortnight 2026 by presenting them with prizes and certificates of merit.
Following the prize distribution, Sayed Arshul Rahaman, presented a self-composed Hindi poem titled “Deeware Nahi Rishte Hai”, which conveyed a meaningful message about human relationships, unity and mutual understanding.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Satnam Singh, IAS, Secretary (Personnel, Revenue, Administrative Reforms & Training), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, then addressed the gathering. In his thought provoking speech, he emphasized the need to further promote and encourage the use of Official Language Hindi in day-to-day activities. He observed that Hindi in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has developed a distinct character of its own, which sounds unique and appealing both when spoken and heard. He further stated that, in comparison with English, communication in Hindi is often more formal and natural, enabling a person to express his or her thoughts and feelings more freely and comfortably.
The Special Guest, Ms. Mumtaz Bano, Retired Programme Executive, Akashvani, Sri Vijaya Puram, also expressed her thoughts and experiences on the occasion. She appreciated the efforts made towards the promotion of Hindi and conveyed her gratitude to everyone associated with the organisation of the Hindi Fortnight and the valedictory ceremony.
Thereafter, Mr. C. Subba Rao, Deputy Director General (Engineer), Cluster Head and Head of Office, addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of giving greater significance to Hindi in the workplace. He stated that Hindi plays a vital role in strengthening the bonds of unity across the country and encouraged all officers and employees to make greater use of Hindi in the official functioning of the office.
The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Deepak Chandra Tewari, Assistant Director (Official Language)/Drawing and Disbursing Officer. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Special Guest, senior officers, officials and all members of the staff for their gracious presence, active participation and valuable contribution towards making the Hindi Fortnight 2026 Valedictory Ceremony a success.
The programme concluded on a cordial and positive note, reaffirming the collective commitment of Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra, Sri Vijaya Puram, towards the progressive use, promotion and propagation of Hindi in official work.
