Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 29: The Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya organised a POSH Sensitisation and Awareness Programme at the college Lecture Gallery on 29 September. The programme was coordinated by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), JNRM, with the objective of sensitising students about sexual harassment, consent, dignity, personal boundaries and available redressal mechanisms.
Around 250 students from the Departments of Commerce, History and Political Science participated in the programme. The programme commenced with the welcome remarks by Dr. Jochibed Vincent, Assistant Professor, Department of English, JNRM. Dr. Pearl Devdas, Principal, JNRM emphasised the importance of maintaining a campus environment based on dignity, equality and mutual respect.
Ms. Rubina Siddiqui, President, Rights For All (RFA) NGO, Certified POSH Master Trainer & Consultant and Empanelled Expert, She-Box Portal, Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India, conducted an interactive session covering POSH provisions, consent, respectful conduct, rights and responsibilities, the role of the ICC, complaint mechanisms and confidentiality. Practical situations, games and activities were used to make the session engaging and participatory.
A pledge was administered by Dr. Leelamani, Chairperson, ICC, JNRM, reaffirming the students’ commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful campus. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bhagya Lakshmi Vijayan, Member Secretary, ICC, JNRM.
