Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 29: On the occasion of “Hindi Pakhawada,” the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre, Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, organized various events, including a signature campaign, a national webinar, and an inter-college essay and speech competition.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where medals and certificates were awarded to the contestants securing the first, second, and third positions from each participating college. Approximately 654 participants from 16 colleges across various states of country took part in the event. The prize distribution ceremony was held, September 29, 2026, at 11:30 AM in the seminar hall, in collaboration with Tagore Government College of Education, Sri Vijayapuram. The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Dr. Satyaki Pal, Regional Director, Anthropological Survey of India, Sri Vijayapuram, while the Guests of Honour were Prof. P.V.N. Sharma, Principal, Andaman Law College, and Prof. Manjulata Rao, Principal, Tagore Government College of Education, Sri Vijayapuram. Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Jacob, Regional Director of IGNOU, welcomed the guests and extended his congratulations to the teachers and students on the occasion of ‘Hindi Pakhwada’. The guests also addressed the gathering, sharing their views on the importance of Hindi and conveying their congratulations and best wishes to everyone on this occasion. Dr. Uday Kumar, Assistant Regional Director, presented a brief report on the ‘Hindi Pakhwada’ observed at the IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair, and announced the names of the winners of the essay/elocution competitions held at various colleges.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the guests awarded medals and certificates to all the successful participants. Ms. Asma Bibi brought the event to a close with vote of thanks. Officials of the Regional Centre, Port Blair, teachers from various colleges, and a large number of students participated in this event.
