Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 29: A newly constructed Cement Concrete (CC) road connecting the village road to the residence of Mr. Sanatan Biswas at Wandoor Ward No. 3 was inaugurated by the Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad South Andaman, Mr. P. Ummer.
The inauguration programme was presided over by the Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad South Andaman, Mr. Rajanish Singh IAS. Mr. Prakash Adhikari, Zilla Parishad Member, Guptapara; Mr. Bharat Sharma, Panchayat Samiti Member; Mr. Uttam Kumar Roy, Up-Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Wandoor; and Mrs. Sukhalata Pahan, Ward Member, Wandoor-03, along with other Zilla Parishad members, PRI representatives and local residents, attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Adhyaksh said that development of basic infrastructure at the village level is an important component of the Zilla Parishad’s efforts towards improving living conditions in rural areas. He stated that proper road connectivity plays a vital role in facilitating the movement of residents and ensuring easier access to schools, healthcare facilities, markets and other essential services.
He further highlighted that the Zilla Parishad is giving due importance to addressing the infrastructure requirements of different villages through need-based development works. The construction of the CC road will provide all-weather connectivity to the residents of the locality and is expected to make their day-to-day movement safer and more convenient.
The Adhyaksh also acknowledged the active support and cooperation of the PRI representatives and the local community in the execution of the development work. He reiterated that the Zilla Parishad would continue to undertake works aimed at improving rural connectivity and strengthening essential infrastructure in the Panchayat areas.
The local residents welcomed the completion of the CC road and expressed their appreciation for the initiative, stating that the improved connectivity would be of considerable benefit to the people of the area.
