Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 27: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Sri Vijaya Puram, has issued weather warnings for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for September 28, 2026, forecasting thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds at one or two places.
Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph and lightning are likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on Monday, September 28.
Fishermen Warning: A fishermen warning has been issued for the Andaman and Nicobar coast. Squally weather, with wind speeds reaching 40–50 kmph and occasionally gusting to 60 kmph, is likely to prevail over and off the Andaman and Nicobar coast on September 28.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman and Nicobar coast during the warning period.
A Swell Surge Alert for the Andaman and Nicobar coast has been indicated as NIL. Swell waves ranging from 1.80–2.20 metres, with a height of 1.1–1.3 metres, are forecast up to 11:30 p.m. on September 28.
Farmer Warning: Heavy rain (07–11 cm) along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph is likely at isolated places over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on September 28.
The IMD has advised farmers to take necessary precautions and secure harvested crops and other agricultural produce in view of the expected weather conditions.
