Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 23: A 73-year-old man died in a road accident at Junglighat in Sri Vijaya Puram on Wednesday after he reportedly fell from his moped and came under the wheels of a loaded truck.
The incident occurred on the road leading from Junglighat towards the Fisheries Colony and Fish Landing Centre. According to preliminary information, the elderly man was travelling on his moped when he reportedly lost balance and fell onto the road. He subsequently came under the truck, resulting in fatal injuries. He died at the spot.
Following the accident, a large number of people gathered at the site and the matter was immediately reported to PS Aberdeen. Police personnel, an ambulance and a forensic team reached the location and initiated the investigation. The deceased man’s family members also arrived at the scene.
The exact circumstances leading to the accident are yet to be established. Police are expected to examine factors including the movement of the truck, the condition of the road and whether any other circumstances contributed to the incident.
