Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 16: The ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Sri Vijaya Puram, inaugurated Hindi Pakhwada–2026 on September 14, 2026, as part of the observance of Hindi Day. The inaugural ceremony was followed by a one-day seminar on the theme “Official Hindi”, held at 10:30 a.m. at the Dr. T. R. Datta Auditorium.
The programme commenced with the ICAR Song, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais, marking the formal inauguration of Hindi Pakhwada–2026.
Welcoming the gathering, Mr. Kanishk Bhukar, Administrative Officer, ICAR-CIARI, extended his cordial greetings to the Chief Guest, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Das, Dr. Pooja, In-charge of the Hindi Cell, scientists, technical and administrative staff, skilled supporting staff, officers and employees of the institute, and Hindi enthusiasts present on the occasion.
As part of the inaugural programme, a one-day seminar on “Official Hindi” was organized. Addressing the seminar, Dr. Pooja provided detailed information on the constitutional provisions and rules concerning Hindi as the Official Language of the Union. She highlighted the status of Hindi under the Constitution, the use of the Official Language, and important aspects related to the effective use of Hindi in official work. She emphasized the need to adopt Hindi in official communication in a simple, clear and effective manner.
Mrs. Reena Saha briefed the participants about the various competitions and activities scheduled during Hindi Pakhwada–2026 and encouraged all staff members to participate actively.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Das, in his address, highlighted the importance of Hindi as a powerful medium for wider public outreach and effective communication. He appreciated the efforts being made by the institute towards the promotion of Hindi and effective implementation of the Official Language, and called upon all employees to actively participate in the various activities being organized during Hindi Pakhwada.
Delivering the presidential address, Dr. Jai Sundar, Director, ICAR-CIARI, emphasized the increased use of Hindi in official work. He stated that effective implementation of Hindi as the Official Language is not merely a formal obligation, but also an important means of making official work simpler, accessible and people-friendly. He also highlighted the history and significance of the Hindi language.
Dr. Jai Sundar further underlined the important role of Hindi in the transfer and dissemination of agricultural technologies to farmers of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He encouraged the institute’s scientists to publish more scientific articles and useful agricultural information in Hindi so that farmers, stakeholders and the general public can understand scientific and technical information in simple language and benefit from it.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Brajesh Kumar. The programme was smoothly and effectively conducted by Mr. Shyam Sundar Rao.
The inauguration of Hindi Pakhwada–2026 marked the beginning of a series of activities aimed at promoting the use of Hindi in official communication and strengthening the outreach of agricultural science and technology to farmers and stakeholders in the island region.
