Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 16: Zilla Parishad, South Andaman organized an Awareness Session on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, commonly known as the POSH Act, 2013, on 16.09.2026 at 10:30 AM at the Conference Hall of Zilla Parishad, South Andaman.
The programme was organized with the objective of sensitizing officials and staff about the provisions of the POSH Act, 2013, and creating awareness regarding the prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment of women at the workplace. The session also highlighted the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful and dignified working environment for all employees.
The awareness session was conducted by Ms. Marya Sheela, Regional Head, and Mr. Vijay Kumar, Advisor, PRAYAS Juvenile Aid Centre Society. The resource persons elaborated on the key provisions of the POSH Act, 2013, including the responsibilities of the workplace, preventive measures, the complaint mechanism and the role of the Internal Complaints Committee in addressing complaints of sexual harassment.
Officials and staff of Zilla Parishad, South Andaman participated in the awareness programme and interacted with the resource persons on various aspects relating to the implementation of the Act at the workplace.
The programme concluded with an emphasis on collective responsibility towards ensuring a safe, inclusive and harassment-free workplace.
