Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 24: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), through the Veterinary Dispensary Rangachang, organised a Farmers Field School on Goat Farming under the National Livestock Mission in the field of Mr. Anand Rao, resident of Rangachang-4, on 3rd September 2026.
Mr. N. Karthick, Up-Pradhan, graced the programme as Chief Guest and also took part as a participant in the training. During the programme, the NLM Entrepreneurship Development Programme was highlighted. Other important schemes such as the Livestock Insurance Scheme, Artificial Insemination in goats and Kisan Credit Card (KCC) were also explained by the Senior Veterinary Officer.
The training covered multiple topics related to scientific goat husbandry practices. Procedures such as hoof trimming and deworming were demonstrated by the Senior Veterinary Officer, Veterinary Dispensary Rangachang and team. The participants took keen interest in breeding management, including the ill effects of inbreeding and premature breeding.
The Up-Pradhan and other participants expressed their gratitude for conducting such a useful programme, which would help them take up animal husbandry as a viable venture.
