
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 25: Protecting the interests of the consumers at large and ensuring the benefits of competitive markets to the end user is the mission of the Competition Commission of India (CCI), and it prevents anti-competitive practices and facilitates healthy competition in the markets, according to Adviser (Advocacy Division) of the Competition Commission of India Mr. Ved Prakash Mishra.
While delivering a lecture here at Andaman Law College on Monday, he said that consumer grievances and other malpractices are not within the scope of CCI, he said. CCI will strive to protect all stakeholders, including consumers, industry, government, and international jurisdictions, he added. CCI, as part of its outreach program, conducted this program to familiarize the activities of the CCI.
Dr. PVN Sarma, principal, Andaman Law College, presided. He thanked CCI for deputing a resource person from its central office. Earlier, Ms. Aurghya Mondal, Assistant Prof. of Law, introduced the chief guest. Business houses need to be fair, competitive, and innovative, and ‘fair play’ should be central to their entire activity, he said.
Mr. Ved Prakash Mishra assured to consider Andaman Law College students in their one-month-long paid internship program offered by CCI in the future. Final-year student Ms. Nandini proposed a vote of thanks, and Ms. Akansha monitored the event. Mishra answered the doubts and queries from students end during the interactive session. The principal felicitated Mr. Ved Prakash Mishra with a shawl and memento on this occasion.
