Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 12: The newly constructed Jarawa Ward at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Tugapur, was inaugurated on Wednesday, 12th August 2026, by Mr. Suresh Padha, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, in the presence of Pradhans of Pahalgaon and Chainpur Gram Panchayats, Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineers of NACD, APWD, and doctors and staff of R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder and PHC Tugapur.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of officials from the concerned departments, including APWD, DHS and AAJVS, who were involved in establishing the facility. He emphasized the importance of providing accessible and quality healthcare services to the people of North & Middle Andaman, particularly the Jarawa community.
The Jarawa Ward at Tugapur PHC is an important step towards strengthening healthcare facilities and improving access to medical services for the Jarawa community of Luis Inlet Bay and nearby areas.
