Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 04: The Animal Welfare Board of India has appealed to the general public to extend care and protection to stray and community animals during the ongoing monsoon season.
Heavy rainfall and waterlogging expose stray animals to injury, illness and starvation. Citizens are requested to extend compassion by providing temporary shelter, wherever feasible, clean drinking water and by promptly informing the nearest Veterinary Institution in case any sick or injured animal is noticed.
Pet owners are also advised not to allow their dogs or other pets to roam outside during periods of heavy rain so as to prevent accidents, disease transmission and other risks.
The cooperation of Animal Welfare Organisations, volunteers and the general public is solicited for safeguarding the welfare of community animals during the monsoon season.
