
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 31: In a continued and determined drive against narcotic drugs, the North & Middle Andaman District Police achieved another significant breakthrough by successfully detecting two separate NDPS cases in quick succession. The operations, carried out by Police Station Kalighat and Police Station Billiground, resulted in the seizure of approximately 183 grams of suspected ganja and the arrest of two persons under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.
In the first operation, acting on credible intelligence, a specialized team led by SI Shibendra Nath Halder, SHO, PS Kalighat, conducted a raid at Kishorinagar on 28 July 2026. The team intercepted a suspect at Kishorinagar and recovered approx. 50 grams of suspected ganja from his possession. In another operation on 30 July 2026, a police team from PS Billiground intercepted a suspect near Shantipur and recovered approx. 133 grams of suspected ganjafrom his possession. In both cases, the recovered contraband was seized, and the accused were arrested after observing all due legal formalities. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify other persons involved in the illegal narcotics network.
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Mr. Rahul Vikram, DANIPS, SDPO, Diglipur, and Mr. Mahendra Singh Charan, DANIPS, SDPO, Rangat, under the overall supervision of Mr. Vikas Swami, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District, reflecting the District Police’s unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and safeguarding the community from the menace of narcotic substances.
