Sri Vijaya Puram, July 25: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI), Sri Vijaya Puram, celebrated Van Mahotsav 2026 by organizing a plantation drive at its Garacharma Farm in collaboration with the South Andaman Forest Division, Department of Environment and Forest, A&N Administration. The occasion was graced by Mr. M. Rajkumar, IFS, APCCF, Department of Environment and Forests, A&N Administration. Dr. Jai Sunder, Director, ICAR-CIARI, emphasized the need to increase green cover, conserve natural resources, and integrate tree plantation activities with sustainable agricultural landscapes.
The Forest Department also supplied 200 seedlings of bamboo, amla and lemon for the plantation drive. Dr. I. Jaisankar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIARI welcomed the gathering while the programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Abhilash, Scientist, ICAR-CIARI.
