Sri Vijaya Puram, July 20: Prof. (Dr.) Shantha Kumar, VC of Gujarati National Law University, Ahmadabad, and Director of Gujarat Maritime University, on Monday, in his interaction with the students and faculty, assured extending academic support to the Andaman Law College to make it a fine law school. The Consortium of National Law Universities will stand and support Andaman Law College, the chairman of the consortium has said. He was here to address its general body in the city, where a galaxy of vice chancellors representing various national law schools from various corners of the country attended.
GNLU will design a curated course and be ready to offer a summer or winter vacation course at GNLU for ALC students, he said. An MoU will be inked for academic collaboration, student exchange, resource sharing, and so on for ALC, he announced.
He appealed to the students to walk an extra mile to know, learn and excel in newly emerging and evolving areas of law to remain relevant in the job market, he said. He referred to Cyber Law, Data Privacy, Fin-Tech law and other areas. Law College offers basics and foundations to thrive in the field, but it cannot teach all 20,000 laws on the statute book, Prof. said. “Yearly two lakh students are coming out from law schools and colleges,” he said. Yet, there is great demand for specialists in different fields of law, especially in the emerging fields he said.
