Sri Vijaya Puram, July 12: The Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration, has issued a weather advisory based on the latest forecast received from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kolkata.
According to the IMD, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during July 13 to July 15, 2026. Similar weather conditions with gusty winds of 30–40 kmph and lightning are also likely at isolated places on July 16 and July 17, 2026.
In view of the prevailing weather conditions, squally winds with speeds reaching 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, are likely to prevail along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts from July 13 to July 14, 2026. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts during this period.
Farmers have also been advised to remain alert, as thunderstorms with gusty winds of 40–50 kmph accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places across the islands from July 13 to July 15, 2026.
The Directorate of Disaster Management has urged residents, fishermen, farmers and all concerned departments to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. The general public is advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins and follow the advisories issued by the authorities to ensure safety.
