
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 6: As part of its efforts to promote transparent, efficient and technology-driven delivery of agricultural services, the Department of Agriculture, South Andaman Zone successfully conducted an awareness-cum-training programme on the framework for fertilizer sale through the Mobile Application on July 2, 2026 across 12 Gram Panchayats of South Andaman District. The programme was organized by the Agriculture Officers (Extension) along with ATMA staff to familiarize farmers with the newly introduced Digital Fertilizer Booking System.
During the programme, participants were provided with a comprehensive demonstration of the mobile application, covering the complete process of farmer registration, Aadhaar authentication, fertilizer booking, OTP verification and other key operational features. Hands-on training was also imparted using the participants’ own smart phones to enable them to independently access and utilize the application for fertilizer booking.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 291 farmers, along with Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) Members and Farmer friends who actively engaged in the awareness and training sessions. The interactive programme provided an opportunity for participants to seek clarifications on various operational aspects of the application including its rollout, registration process, fertilizer booking for farmers from other villages etc to ensure a better understanding of the application and its features.
