New Bimblitan, July 3: Residents of New Bimblitan have expressed concern over the prolonged disruption of BSNL mobile network services in the area, stating that they have been left without connectivity for more than two days.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha Daily over the phone, a resident said that the BSNL tower in the area stopped functioning after a power outage at around 7:10 pm on Wednesday. According to him, electricity supply was restored within about 15 to 20 minutes, but the mobile tower has remained non-functional since then, leaving residents without any network connectivity.
He said that the absence of mobile services has made the area feel like a remote location, despite New Bimblitan being a populated market area. Residents are reportedly unable to make or receive calls or access mobile data, causing considerable inconvenience.
He further claimed that although a BSNL 4G tower was installed in New Milan in September 2024, the service has remained unreliable. According to him, the tower functions for only a limited number of days each month, and even when mobile data works, voice calling services, including incoming and outgoing calls, often remain unavailable.
He alleged that repeated attempts were made to contact BSNL officials, including the General Manager and others, regarding the ongoing disruption. According to the resident, despite several phone calls and voice messages, no response or restoration had been received till the time of reporting.
The resident also expressed disappointment over what he described as the lack of response from local public representatives regarding the issue. The villagers have appealed to the concerned authorities and BSNL officials to restore mobile services at the earliest and address the connectivity issues being faced by residents.
