Sri Vijaya Puram, June 21: A review meeting on the prevailing water situation in South Andaman was held on June 16 under the chairmanship of Mr. Kamaleshwar Rao, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman attended by Chairperson, SVPMC, Councillor & PRI Member.
The meeting reviewed the status of water availability in Dhanikhari Dam and decided that the present supply will continue. Enhancement of supply will be considered once the reservoir level reaches 62 metres.
The meeting also discussed measures for improving water availability in water-stressed areas, strengthening water conservation efforts, and undertaking necessary repairs to critical water supply infrastructure. A comprehensive action plan for augmentation of water resources and public awareness on water conservation will be taken up on priority.
The general public has been urged to use water judiciously and support conservation measures to ensure sustainable drinking water supply during the coming months.
