Sri Vijaya Puram, June 19: The Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration, has issued a weather advisory based on information received from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), warning of unsettled weather conditions over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the coming days.
According to the IMD forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph and lightning are likely to occur at one or two places over the Islands on June 20, 2026. Further, thunderstorms with gusty winds of 40-50 kmph and lightning are likely at isolated places from June 21 to June 25, 2026.
A Farmer Warning has also been issued for the period June 20 to June 23, 2026. Farmers have been advised to remain alert as thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds may affect agricultural activities across the Islands.
As per the Fishermen Warning, no squally wind warning has been issued. However, a Swell Surge Alert remains in force for the coast of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Swell waves ranging between 1.50 and 1.80 metres in height are forecast till 11:30 PM on June 20, 2026. Authorities have advised boat operators, fishermen and the general public to exercise utmost vigilance while venturing near the coast and undertaking recreational activities at sea.
The outlook for the subsequent two days indicates little change in the prevailing weather conditions. The general public has been advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins and follow safety advisories issued by the concerned authorities.
