
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 17: The Custom Hiring Centre established under the PM-RKVY Scheme was inaugurated and the SPICE PRAVAH 2.0 campaign was formally launched at Diglipur on 17th June by Mr. Santosh Prakash, DANICS, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, in the presence of Mr. Dipankar Mistry, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Diglipur, PRI Members, officials of the Agriculture Department and farmers.
At the outset, Mrs. Shirly Thomas, I/c Joint Director (Agriculture), North & Middle Andaman, welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. She highlighted the significance of farm mechanization through the Custom Hiring Centre and the objectives of SPICE PRAVAH 2.0 in promoting spice cultivation and strengthening the spice value chain in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Santosh Prakash, DANICS, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, appreciated the efforts of the Agriculture Department in establishing the Custom Hiring Centre to provide farmers with easy access to modern farm machineries. He stated that the facility would help reduce dependence on manual labour, improve operational efficiency and enhance agricultural productivity. He further emphasized the need to create awareness among farmers regarding the availability of farm machineries and various developmental initiatives being undertaken by the Department for the benefit of the farming community.
The Chief Guest also formally launched SPICE PRAVAH 2.0 by planting Cinnamon Seedlings in the premises of Custom Hiring Centre. The campaign aims to promote large-scale adoption of spice cultivation, encourage crop diversification and enhance farmers’ income through sustainable agricultural practices.
Mr. Dipankar Mistry, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Diglipur, appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the Agriculture Department and urged farmers to actively participate in the programmes and avail the benefits of the facilities being created under various government schemes.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Agriculture Officer, Diglipur and a demonstration of farm machineries available at the Custom Hiring Centre and an interaction with farmers regarding the objectives and benefits of SPICE PRAVAH 2.0.
