
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 10: Under the flagship Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), the Directorate of Social Welfare, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, organized an awareness programme at Aakash Institute, Junglighat, with the active participation of students, teachers, and faculty members.
The programme was graced by Mr. Ravinder Kumar, Director, Directorate of Social Welfare, and Mr. A.K. Biswas, Nodal Officer, NAPDDR. Resource persons from the Industries, Anti-Narcotics CID, IRCA (SA), and Project Assistant (NAPDDR) team addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights on drug abuse prevention, its harmful consequences, and available support services.
Addressing the students, Mr. Ravinder Kumar emphasized the importance of staying away from chemical drug addiction and making informed life choices. He urged them to remain focused on their studies, adopt healthy lifestyles, and contribute positively towards nation-building, highlighting that the youth are the future of the country and play a vital role in building a strong and prosperous India. During the programme, Mr. A.K. Biswas briefed the participants about the various welfare schemes being implemented by the Directorate of Social Welfare and made them aware of important helpline numbers and support services available for individuals seeking assistance.
Students of Aakash Institute delivered impactful messages on drug abuse prevention through debate and skit performances, highlighting the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of a drug-free society. A drawing competition was also conducted, providing students with an opportunity to creatively express their thoughts on drug abuse prevention. The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which students and teachers actively engaged with the resource persons and discussed various aspects of drug abuse prevention and awareness.
