Sri Vijaya Puram, June 7
The general public, PRI Members and Departments have been informed that the 100 KVA Distribution Transformer (DT) feeding Parangara Village under Diglipur failed at around 2.30 AM on 04.06.2026. Due to heavy rain, the available 100 KVA transformer at the site could not be commissioned on 05.06.2026, but was subsequently commissioned on 06.06.2026 by 12 noon. The distribution transformer at the site was tested for restoration of power supply, but it also could not be commissioned due to technical issues.
In order to restore power supply at the earliest, the Electricity Department explored the availability of spare transformers in nearby areas including Nimbudera, Mohanpur and Tugapur wherein found that 100 KVA DT available each at Nimbudera and Mohanpur, however, the Mohanpur transformer did not meet the required Insulation Resistance (IR) value for safe commissioning while the Nimbudera transformer could not be immediately dismantled and shifted due to its critical and complex installation arrangement.
Consequently, a 50 KVA DT available at Tugapur was shifted on 06.06.2026 on priority and was kept under the necessary heating process to achieve the required IR value and fulfil other technical parameters. Subsequently, the transformer was installed and commissioned on 07.06.2026 at 1pm, thereby restoring power supply to the entire affected area.
Meanwhile, as a permanent and more reliable solution and maintaining redundancy at far flung area distribution transformers of capacities 63 KVA, 100 KVA, 160 KVA, and 200 KVA have been dispatched from Sri Vijaya Puram by the earliest available convoy for immediate transportation to Diglipur.
The Electricity Department, A&N Administration would also like to inform the general public and PRI members that following intensive efforts by the field teams and restoration works undertaken on priority, the power supply situation in Mayabunder and Tugapur has been successfully normalized on 06.06.2026. The consumers in Mayabunder and Tugapur are receiving regular power supply, and the department continues to closely monitor the system to ensure reliable service in the areas.
The Electricity Department sincerely appreciates the cooperation, patience, and understanding extended by the residents during this unforeseen disruption and remains committed to ensuring reliable and uninterrupted power supply to all consumers.
