Sri Vijaya Puram May 18: Mr. Manojit Halder, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Harinagar, on Saturday met Mr. S. Tej Bahadur , Superintending Engineer, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, at the APWD Swadesh Nagar NACD-III Site Office to discuss the urgent execution of key rural road infrastructure projects in Gram Panchayat Harinagar.
During the meeting, Mr. Halder expressed heartfelt gratitude to the administration for the successful completion of the vital road work stretching from the Andaman Trunk Road (ATR) to the residence of Mr. Panchu Gopal Das at Harinagar-6, which has significantly benefited local residents.
Following this, Mr. Halder submitted a detailed list of public demands for new rural road projects and urged the department to expedite the tendering process for early execution. The key demands raised before the Superintending Engineer included:
1. Harinagar-5 Road Infrastructure: Immediate floating of tender for the construction of a rural road from the residence of Mr. Joshna Das to the house of Mr. C.M. Adhikary.
2. Inter-Village Connectivity: Early tendering for the critical rural road connecting Pinakinagar village to Kamlapur village to improve regional connectivity.
3. Harinagar-4 Road and Bridge Connectivity: Urgent tendering for construction of the rural road from the residence of Mr. Nani Karmakar to the graveyard at Harinagar-4. Mr. Halder highlighted that while a bridge on this route was constructed nearly 15 years ago, the connecting road remains incomplete to date.
4. Gabion Structure and Rigid Pavement at Harinagar-6: Regarding the ongoing road work from the Police Booth to Mr. Nani Karmakar’s house, Mr. Halder pointed out a major engineering concern. He stated that the stretch from the quarry area at Harinagar-6 to Mr. Nani Karmakar’s residence faces heavy vehicular load, making standard pavement unsuitable. He strongly recommended the construction of a supportive gabion structure beside the road near the residence and execution of the remaining portion as Cement Concrete (CC) road to ensure durability and long-term sustainability.
5. CRF-Funded Road Project: Early execution of the sanctioned road construction work from the residence of Mr. K.K. Roy to Mr. N.N. Roy’s house under the Central Road Fund (CRF).
The Superintending Engineer listened carefully to the public grievances and structural suggestions placed by Mr. Halder. Mr. S. Tej Bahadur assured that the administration would take all necessary and possible action to address these engineering requirements and expedite the tendering process for early execution of the proposed works.
The meeting reflects Gram Panchayat Harinagar’s continued commitment under the leadership of Mr. Manojit Halder towards strengthening rural infrastructure and ensuring better connectivity for the people of the Panchayat.
