Sri Vijaya Puram, May 14: Newly elected Adhyaksh of the North & Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mr. R. Alager Swamy, and newly elected Up-Adhyaksha, Ms. Arpona Roy, were administered the oath of office and secrecy today by the Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman during a formal ceremony attended by Zilla Parishad members, senior officials, employees, political leaders, and supporters.
The oath-taking ceremony was held in a dignified atmosphere at Pokhadera Community Hall, Mayabunder, with a large gathering witnessing the event. Officials of the district administration, including the Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad and other senior officers, were present on the occasion.
During the ceremony, Mr. R. Alager Swamy took the oath and affirmed that he would discharge his duties faithfully, without fear, favour, bias, or ill will, and work with sincerity, knowledge, and justice for the welfare of the people.
Similarly, Ms. Arpona Roy took the oath as the newly elected Up-Adhyaksha of the North & Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad.
Addressing the gathering after the oath ceremony, Mr. Alager Swamy said that he would work in complete coordination with all Zilla Parishad members, officials, and employees for the overall development of North & Middle Andaman. He stated that fulfilling the expectations of the people would remain his top priority and assured that all developmental activities would be carried forward collectively and transparently.
Stressing the importance of teamwork, he said he would take along the entire Zilla Parishad family, including the engineering wings and officials, to ensure balanced development across all constituencies.
Highlighting key issues, the newly elected Adhyaksh pointed out that several development works, especially in the road sector, have remained pending due to lack of adequate funds. He assured that efforts would be made to secure additional funds from higher authorities, including the Administration, Chief Secretary, and even the Central Government if required.
Mr. Alager Swamy said special focus would also be given to youth welfare, sports infrastructure, and generating employment opportunities for cooperative societies formed by local youths. He emphasized that every constituency should receive equal opportunities for development and that no area would be neglected.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated both the newly elected Adhyaksh and Up-Adhyaksha and expressed hope that the district would witness accelerated development under the new leadership. He said the district administration and officials would continue extending full support for developmental initiatives in North & Middle Andaman.
Ms. Arpona Roy, while addressing the gathering, thanked the members and supporters for their confidence in her leadership. She assured that she would remain available for the people at all times and work together with the Adhyaksh and all Zilla Parishad members for the welfare and development of the district.
