Sri Vijaya Puram, May 11: A public awareness campaign on disaster preparedness and safety was organised by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at RRO Fisherman Colony under Gram Panchayat Shivapuram.
The programme commenced with a welcome speech delivered by the Panchayat Secretary, who welcomed the NDRF team, PRI members and local residents. During the awareness session, the NDRF team conducted live demonstrations on various life-saving skills to be used during natural disasters. The demonstrations included first aid techniques, CPR training, emergency response methods and rescue procedures during calamities such as earthquakes and tsunamis.
Later, Pradhan Mr. Venkateswar Rao addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of preparedness and awareness in saving lives during natural disasters. He also explained precautionary and safety measures to be followed during earthquakes, tsunamis and other emergency situations.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Panchayat Samiti Member Mrs. Shanta Kumari, who thanked the NDRF team and all participants for making the awareness campaign successful.
