
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 11: MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram in association with Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Sri Vijaya Puram observed “National Technology Day – 2026” on 11th May 2026 at the Mini Conference Hall of TGCE with active participation of around 125 youths, students and faculty members.
Mr. Prakash Khule, AGM, BSNL graced the programme as the Chief Guest and delivered an informative address on the importance of technology in nation building, communication, cyber safety and digital empowerment. He highlighted the significance of National Technology Day in remembrance of the successful Pokhran Nuclear Tests conducted on 11th May 1998 under the leadership of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, which established India as a nuclear power nation. He also elaborated on the growth of telecommunication technology, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, cyber awareness and responsible use of technology among youth.
Dr. Manju Latha Rao, Principal, TGCE attended the programme as the Guest of Honour and motivated the students to adopt innovation, scientific thinking and digital learning for academic and professional growth.
Mr. Sukha Ranjan Biswas, Joint Director, MY Bharat highlighted the importance of National Technology Day and emphasized the role of youth in technological advancement, innovation and development of a self-reliant and developed India.
Mr. Sunil Saini, Assistant Professor, TGCE delivered a brief lecture on the history of National Technology Day and explained how India achieved a significant milestone through the Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998. He also highlighted the contributions of Indian scientists and the importance of scientific research and innovation.
Earlier, Mr. Gopal Chandra Biswas (APS), OSD, MY Bharat welcomed the guests and participants and highlighted the importance of the observance along with the role and responsibilities of youth in nation building, ethical use of technology and social development. He also proposed the vote of thanks.
Mrs. Neeta Chandra, Assistant Professor, TGCE was also present on the occasion and encouraged the students to actively engage in learning emerging technologies and digital skills.
The programme concluded with the singing of “Vande Mataram”.
