Sri Vijaya Puram, April 29:A prompt and well-coordinated response by the Fire Service team at Baratang ensured the safe removal of a fallen tree from a vehicle near the Forest Guest House at Nilambur this afternoon, preventing major damage and ensuring public safety.
According to official sources, a special service call was received at around 4:40 PM today from Mr. Karthick, a staff member of the Forest Department, reporting that a large Jamun tree had fallen on a car near the Forest Guest House.
Responding swiftly, a Fire Service (FS) Baratang crew equipped with disaster management tools rushed to the site. Upon arrival, the team found that a massive tree had been uprooted due to strong and sudden winds, falling directly onto a Chevrolet car. The incident also blocked access to the Forest Guest House, disrupting movement in the area.
The firefighters immediately initiated a carefully planned operation using chain saws, daos, crowbars, and ropes. The team systematically cut and removed the branches and trunk in phases, ensuring minimal additional damage to the vehicle while maintaining strict safety precautions throughout the process.
After nearly an hour of intensive effort, the fallen tree was completely cleared from the vehicle, and access to the Forest Guest House was successfully restored.
Officials stated that the timely response, presence of mind, and professional handling by the fire crew played a crucial role in averting significant damage. Despite the challenging and potentially hazardous nature of the operation, no injuries or loss of life were reported.
The swift action by the Fire Service team was widely appreciated by members of the public and Forest Department officials present at the scene.
The operation was carried out by a team comprising SI S. Subba Raj, ASI (SG) G. Ajit Kumar, HC (SG) S. Sugumaran, HC (SG) Rajesh Gupta, and other personnel.
