Port Blair, Jun 6: Mr. P.B. Murugan, Chairperson, Municipal Council organized a meeting with the Revenue Officer, Assessors, Tax Inspectors and Tax Collectors of the Council on 5th of June, 2013 to find out the ways and means to improve the revenue of the Council.
The Chairperson, PBMC appreciated the revenue staff for collecting of revenue to the tune of Rs. 94.34 crores during the financial year 2012-13. Mr. P.B. Murugan, Chairperson said that consequent to the implementation of the recommendation of 6th pay Commission and cost increase in construction materials there is vast difference between the revenue and expenditure of the Council.
The Chairperson, PBMC therefore stressed the need for improving the revenue collection and sought full cooperation of the revenue section of the Council. The Chairperson informed that action is being taken to establish E-counters in each ward so that the Tax payers could remit the municipal taxes in wards Mr. P.B. Murugan , Chairperson, PBMC also stressed the need for house to house collection by the Tax Collectors.
The Chairperson also listened to the grievances of the Revenue staff and assured immediate action for redresal of their grievances.
