
Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 15: An awareness programme on the Unique Disability ID (UDID) Scheme was organized by the Directorate of Social Welfare, on 15th April 2026 at 10:00 AM at PHC Manglutan and 11:30 AM at PHC Chouldari, as part of its focused initiative to extend awareness on the UDID Scheme to rural areas of South Andaman, ensuring that Persons with Disabilities in these areas are able to access government benefits and services.
The programme witnessed participation from the Medical Officers of PHC Manglutan and PHC Chouldari, the Pradhan of Guptapara, along with Anganwadi Workers, Persons with Disabilities, medical staff, general public.
During the programme, resource persons from the Social Welfare Department Composite Regional Centre (CRC) sensitized the participants on various aspects of disability and the UDID Scheme. State Coordinator (UDID), spoke about the UDID card, its benefits, certification process, and technical aspects related to registration, encouraging eligible beneficiaries to register under the scheme. Rehabilitation Officer, CRC Brookshabad, elaborated on the types of disabilities, categories of UDID cards, and the disability certification process, providing valuable insights to the participants.
Further, Disability incharge, highlighted the various government schemes and benefits available for Persons with Disabilities, emphasizing the importance of possessing a UDID card to avail such services.
The programme aimed at creating awareness and promoting registration under the UDID Scheme to ensure better access to government benefits and services for Persons with Disabilities.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the support and participation of all attendees.
