On the occasion of Navy Day 2025, I extend my heartfelt greetings and deep appreciation to all officers, sailors, veterans, DSC personnel, non-combatants, defence civilians and their families. Navy Day reminds us of the exemplary courage and operational brilliance displayed during Operation Trident in the 1971 Indo-Pak War — an enduring symbol of the Indian Navy’s resolve and valour.
The Indian Navy continues to play a decisive role in safeguarding our maritime borders and ensuring the security of our vast oceanic domain. Through constant surveillance, seamless coordination and unmatched professionalism, our naval forces protect key sea lines of communication, uphold national interests and promote peace and stability across the Indian Ocean Region. The recent induction of frontline platforms such as Surat, Nilgiri, Udaygiri, Vagsheer, and Mahe reflects the nation’s firm commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, with these advanced warships conceptualised, designed, and built in Indian shipyards.
The A&N Islands, due to their unique strategic location, continue to hold immense importance in our maritime security framework. The Navy’s strong and proactive presence in the islands ensures the safety of international sea lanes, protection of maritime trade and effective conduct of anti-poaching operations — significantly strengthening our maritime security.
The Navy’s contributions extend well beyond defence and security. Its cooperation with friendly nations, participation in multinational exercises, community-oriented initiatives and exemplary humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations reflect India’s values of friendship, service and global responsibility. Whether responding to natural disasters or extending timely support to those in distress, the Indian Navy consistently upholds its legacy of courage, compassion, and duty.
On this Navy Day, I offer my heartfelt tribute to all Naval personnel, veterans, DSC personnel, non-combatants, and defence civilians whose dedication and service bring pride to the nation. I also convey my deep appreciation to their families, whose support and sacrifices make this commitment possible.
Let us reaffirm our gratitude, admiration, and wholehearted support to the Indian Navy as it continues to safeguard our nation and uphold its glorious maritime traditions.
