Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 02: The process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls has commenced across the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 28th October, 2025. The last such revision was conducted in the year 2002. The schedule of SIR is as under:

It is reiterated that before every election, revision of the Electoral Roll is mandatory as per Section 21 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and Rule 25 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. The Election Commission of India has been conducting annual revisions—both intensive and summary—for the past 75 years.
This exercise is essential, as the Electoral Roll is a dynamic list that undergoes continuous changes due to various reasons such as deaths, migration for occupation, education or marriage, and the addition of new voters who have attained the age of 18 years.
Further, Article 326 of the Constitution of India specifies the eligibility criteria to become an elector:
- Must be a citizen of India,
- Must be at least 18 years of age,
- Must be an ordinary resident in the constituency, and
- Must not be disqualified under any law.
In this connection, the Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has appealed to all electors to extend their full cooperation to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs). BLOs will visit house-to-house and distribute pre-printed Enumeration Forms in duplicate. Electors are requested to fill in the required details, sign the forms, paste a recent colour passport-size photograph in the specified column, and assist the BLOs in completing the enumeration process. BLOs will revisit households to collect the completed forms.
The House-to-House Enumeration will be carried out from 04th November to 04th December, 2025. This exercise aims to ensure that the Electoral Roll remains accurate, up to date, and free from errors, in line with the motto of the Election Commission of India:
“No Eligible Voter to be Left Out, and No Ineligible person is Included in the Electoral Roll”.
