
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 02: The Andaman and Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC), Department of Science and Technology, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, organized a Sensitization-cum-Awareness Programme on obtaining Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO) under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
The programme was conducted at the Branch Development and Facilitation Office of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Dollygunj Industrial Estate, Dollygunj, in collaboration with Laghu Udyog Bharati, Andaman and Nicobar Chapter, and the MSME Branch, Sri Vijaya Puram, ANI. Around 30 stakeholders from various industries participated in the event and were sensitized about the procedures and importance of obtaining CTE and CTO.
Mr. B. Raj Babu, Technician, ANPCC, delivered a presentation providing an overview of the consent management system. He explained the significance of obtaining Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate to ensure compliance with pollution control regulations and to safeguard the environment of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Sitaram Sharma, President and Mr. Abhijit Agarwal, Secretary, Laghu Udyog Bharati, Andaman and Nicobar Chapter, also urged all stakeholders present at the programme to apply for and obtain CTE and CTO from ANPCC to avoid any penalties and to contribute towards maintaining a cleaner and greener environment in the Islands.
