Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 24: In view of the forthcoming Chhath Puja celebrations, which are expected to draw a large number of devotees to Carbyn’s Cove Beach, the District Magistrate, South Andaman, has issued a notification under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, to ensure smooth vehicular movement and the safety of the public.
According to the notification, the stretch from Carbyn Chowk Junction to Mazar Pahad via Carbyn’s Cove has been declared a one-way route. Vehicles will be allowed to enter only from the Carbyn Chowk Junction and exit through Mazar Pahad. No vehicles, except two-wheelers, will be permitted to move in the reverse direction — from Mazar Pahad towards Carbyn’s Cove Beach.
Further, the entry of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) on this stretch will remain restricted during the period of Chhath Puja. However, vehicles engaged in essential services will be exempted from this restriction.
Additionally, the road leading from Children’s Park, Chakkar Gaon to Carbyn’s Cove Road will remain closed for general vehicular movement, except for two-wheelers, during the celebration period.
These traffic regulations will be enforced from 1400 hours on October 27, 2025, and will remain effective till 2000 hours on October 28, 2025.
The District Administration has urged the general public to cooperate with the authorities and follow the traffic arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of Chhath Puja and the safety of devotees visiting Carbyn’s Cove Beach.
